The collection consists of eleven items, including: ten letters and cards to Mrs. Compton from various theatre personalities, 1916-1925, responding to her invitation to attend the Theatre Girls' Club; includes responses from Dion Boucicault, Sir George Alexander, J. Forbes-Robertson, Gerald Du Maurier, Gladys Cooper, Lily Elsie, Lilian Braithwaite, Madge Kendal, Mary Moore, and Lilian Baylis. Also, playbill from the Prince's in Manchester, listing shows for 19 March 1888 through 23 March 1888, featuring the Compton Comedy Company, with Miss Virginia Bateman (Mrs Edward Compton) appearing in each production. Virginia Frances Bateman Compton was an English actress. Her parents were theatre managers, and she made her acting debut at the age of twelve. She joined the Compton Company of actors, marrying Edward Compton, and had a long and prestigious career as the company's leading lady opposite her husband.
